Inquire early while limited space is still open about 2007, March 13-19. Bring the family and friends. Don't miss the Last Great Race, 2007 Iditarod with Fairbanks and Northern Lights and Landscapes, March 2 - 9, the only winter adventure of its kind in all of Alaska travel.
Fairbanks, March 15-21, 2006 Highlights:
- Best month for northern lights
- North American Championship Sled Dog Race
- World Championship Ice Art awards
For 15 years, March weather has warmed considerably as global warming plays a new hand. Though northern Alaska has a reputation for cold winters, March has been far warmer than you may expect. Good care by me, good gear and you can enjoy this grandest of all times of the year, even on the chilly days.
You can see what I'm wearing on a nice March day. If the temperature drops, we add a parka and mittens, and you're ready for the trail, just like we real Alaskans do.
Northern Lights, Landscapes & Lifestyles
ENJOY winter fun & adventure with Dan Wetzel , an Alaskan since 1967, veteran wilderness guide, arctic naturalist and breeder of award winning racing sled dogs. You'll experience the best of Alaska's interior at one of our favorite times of the year. Daytime activities include driving your own dog team and cheering at one of the premier mushing events in the world, learning from world renowned arctic scientists and soaking in the healing waters of world famous hot springs. When the sun goes down, marvel at the brightest northern lights in North America.
We don't want to be inside when the sun is shining or northern lights overhead. But if a cold wind picks up, we have things in the plan to do inside. Accommodations for this tour are in superb Alaskan hotels offering comfort and gourmet dining.
